April 24, 2005 – T-Mobile’s Alexandre Vinokourov from Kazakhstan won the 91st edition of Liège-Bastogne-Liège giving T-Mobile their first win of the season. The 31 year-old Vinokourov escaped with Jens Voight (CSC) with 50 kilometres to go and the two held on to the finish. About 10 seconds back was Michael Boogerd (Rabobank) in third, with Italy’s Olympic champ Paolo Bettini (Quick.Step) place fourth, and former MTB’er Cadel Evans (Davitamon-Lotto) from Australia in fifth place.
