(St. Augustin, PQ) November 3, 2002 – On a cold, snowy day, Lyne Bessette (Cyclo-Crossworld) and Roddi Lega (Alberta) smoked the field to wear the maple leaf jersey of National Champion. Road star Bessette, who after last year's controversial non-admission to the Cross Worlds because of her no-show at the Nationals, road strong from the gun to beat Shauna Gillies-Smith ( Gearworks) by over a minute.

The Elite men's field saw a new champion for the first time in 5 years. With the absence of 5-time champ Peter Wedge, who was racing at the Pan Am championships in South America, Roddi Legga (Alberta) beat MTB stalwart Andreas Hestler (Rocky Mountain). Dustin MacBurnie took the Espoirs race; Martin Lazarski the juniors; Sean Barr the Masters A; 1 Dave Dermott the Master B'ss; and Piorre Gendron the D's.
