release by Trek Red Truck p/b Mosaic Homes

January 14, 2011 (Vancouver, BC) – The Trek Red Truck p/b Mosaic Homes Cycling Team is pleased to announce that former professional cyclist, personal trainer and motivational speaker, Leah Goldstein has joined the team after retiring from 13 years on the pro race circuit in the Spring of 2010 following an accident in which she sustained two broken arms.

Leah is a four-time Canadian National Time Trial Medalist, overall winner of the 2008 Tour of the Gila, five-time Israeli National Cycling Champion in the time trial and road race, three-time winner of the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic, BC Provincial Time Trial and Road Race Champion, and still holds numerous climbing records in the Pacific Northwest.

She is now focusing on ultra endurance racing and has set her sights on attempting to break the female solo record in the 30th anniversary year of the 2011 Race Across America (RAAM) www.raceacrossamerica.org, generally regarded as “the World’s Toughest Bicycle Race.” Outdoor Life Network (OLN) has expressed interest in following her exploits in the race and profiling her story. She has already won the Furnace Creek 508 Ultra Endurance race twice and was the first solo woman and 2nd overall in last year’s Race Across Oregon. She also set a new record en route to winning the women’s solo division of the Ring of Fire 24 Hour Time Trial in Oregon.

TRTR Team Director Steve Engh, commented, “Leah raced with our team a number of years ago so she is very familiar with our program and will be a valuable mentor and inspiration for our women’s team. Over the course of her pro racing career she has been among the best in North America and has overcome many injuries as a result of some horrific crashes and accidents. She is one of the most determined and toughest athletes we have ever worked with so her transition into ultra endurance events is no surprise. She is a terrific addition to the team and a great representative for our corporate partners especially at high profile events such as the RAAM.”
