March 26, 2009 (Austin, TX) – According to the Team Astana web site Lance Armstrong had successful surgery to repair his broken collarbone. Apparently his condition was worse than originally thought – his collarbone was broken in four not two pieces – but top orthopedic surgeons were successful at using a 5″ stainless steel plate with 12 screws to repair Armstrong’s fracture.
