September 2, 2004- The public is invited to witness the fourth T-MOBILE INTERNATIONAL, presented by BMC Software, featuring six-time Tour de France champion, Lance Armstrong, and his U.S. Postal Service Team. The event is expected to draw crowds in excess of 500,000 people on Sunday afternoon, September 12, on the streets of downtown San Francisco. For the past three years spectators have lined the racecourse, which starts and finishes at the Embarcadero near the Ferry Building, winds through North Beach, and puts cyclists to the test up the punishing Fillmore and Taylor Streets.

VIP tickets to see the T-MOBILE INTERNATIONAL, presented by BMC Software are also available. From the Champion’s Club hospitality area adjacent to the start/finish line, cycling enthusiasts can catch all the action of the race. The festivities begin with the women’s T-MOBILE INTERNATIONAL, presented by BMC Software at 7 a.m. The challenging 51.6 mile course will feature rides such as 2004 Olympic Silver Medalist Dede Demet-Barry (T-Mobile), 2003 T-MOBILE INTERNATIONAL, presented by BMC Software winner, Nicole Cooke of Ausra Gruodis Safi and PCT Points Leader Gina Grain, of Victory Brewing.

The T-MOBILE INTERNATIONAL, presented by BMC Software men’s race will begin at 10 a.m. after the conclusion of the women’s race. Cyclists slated to compete include Lance Armstrong, Olympic Silver Medalist Viatcheslav Eskimov, PCT Points Leader Fred Rodriquez of Aqua e Sapone, 2003 Champion Chris Horner of Webcor Builders, and 2002 Champion Charles Dionne also of Webcor Builders.

The BMC Software Celebrity Chase will feature some of the Bay Area’s most notable personalities as they compete along a shortened version of the course during the men’s pro race. Each celebrity will be racing for a selected charity. The event will begin at 11 a.m. at the start/finish area along the Embarcadero.

The T-MOBILE INTERNATIONAL, presented by BMC Software is the fifth stop on the Pro Cycling Tour (PCT). The PCT is now in its sixth year and is the nation’s only all professional road cycling races featuring world-class athletes. This year’s event will be broadcast live on KGO from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The T-MOBILE INTERNATIONAL, presented by BMC Software is owned and operated by Tailwind Sports of San Francisco and Threshold Sports of Philadelphia, two leading companies of the sport and producers of the event.
