May 27th, 2004 – Last night while Canada slept, Sarah Ulmer of New Zealand
was breaking World Records at the World Championships in Melbourne,
Australia. Her time of 3:30.604 minutes was two tenths of a second inside
the previous record set by Hollands Leontien Zijlaard-Van Moorsel in a
semi-final at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Ulmer has shown consistency
throughout the early season leading up to Worlds, winning the pursuit at
the Mexico World Cup in March and more recently the Sydney World Cup only
two weeks ago.
