April 16, 2005 – This year’s Kings County Classic, April 30-May 1st, presented by the Kings County Wheelers, is sure to be another great race. The two most popular venues from past years have been combined and a third stage has been added to the mix.
Stages one and two will take place just outside of Sussex in Penobsquis. This was the venue of the 2003 Kings County Classic, which saw approximately 100 riders fight the wind, race trains and inhale the awesome country air!!
Stage three takes us back out to Belleisle, the venue from last year’s running of the Kings County Classic. Over 70 riders battled the steep climb and the long grind into the wind on the back section through the rolling farm hills.
STAGE 1 – 10am Start
This stage consists of a short road circuit race. The course is a relatively flat 10.5 km loop. Lap counts will range from one to four laps depending on categories. This is sure to be an action packed stage.
STAGE 2 – 4pm Start
This stage is the individual time trial. The course is an out and back with an almost guaranteed headwind on the return trip for a total distance of 16kms.
STAGE 3 – 10am Start
This stage is the grand finale of the weekend. The road race course is a 17 km loop with one large climb and a back section that climbs gently but often into the wind. Bring your big legs!! The lap counts will range from one to six laps depending on categories.
