June 26, 2003 (Fernie, BC) – Fernie Alpine Resort is pleased to present the Kelsey's Thursday Night Mountain Bike Race Series beginning on July 3 through August 28. The weekly event is a multi-discipline race series including gravity-fed, dual slalom, cross country and all-in-one races with the following schedule and theme nights:

– July 3 – Gravity-Fed Race
– July 10 – Cross Country & Kids Race
– July 17 – Hawaiian Dual Slalom
– July 24 – Food Bank Downhill
– July 31 – All-in-One Race
– August 7 – Gravity-Fed Race
– August 14 – Retro-Wear Dual Slalom
– August 21 – Cross Country & Kids Race
– August 28 – Gravity-Fed Race & Series Wrap Up Party

“We hope to get lots of riders out each week to have a fun and social event,” says Karen Pepper, Events Coordinator for Fernie Alpine Resort. “Participants must be registered through the Mountain Adventure Centre prior to the 6 p.m. racer meeting. The race start will be at 6:30 p.m. with fun prizes and refreshments at Kelsey's immediately following the race.”

Each week participants will accumulate points with double points awarded for Cross Country races and bonus points on theme nights. Prizes will be awarded weekly as well as series prizes on August 28 at the Wrap Up Party. The fee to participate is $5.00 per participant each week and includes a complimentary beverage at Kelsey's Restaurant following the race. The Gravity-Fed and All-in-One Races do require a lift ticket or Summer Season Pass to access the lift to the starting point. The race series is open to all abilities ages thirteen and older. The Cross Country events will feature a kids' category for ages 6 to 12. Participants must wear a helmet approved for mountain biking with leg and arm protection highly recommended.
