August 12, 2008 (Montreal, QC) – Karol Ann Canuel (Specialized Multisports) was apparently hit by a car today in Montreal. The 20-year-old suffered no serious injuries but is believed to have torn a ligament in her leg and is thus unlikely to race for two to three weeks Pedal learned from Marc Wayne Addison, her former coach.

Canuel was hit near the corner of Darlington and Van Horne Streets in the Cote des Neiges district. Accounts put her as going through the intersection on a green light when a motorist went through on the red.

Canuel, who hails from Amos, Quebec, came second in this year’s U23 Tim Hortons National Cycling Championships individual time trials and fourth in the road race.
