June 5, 2007 – ExtremeRoad.com is pleased to present the twentieth annual K-W Classic Road Race on Sunday, June 10, in Kitchener, Ontario. This is race #3 of the prestigious Ontario Cup Road Series.

One of the most popular road circuits in Ontario, the classic Hidden Valley Road loop is the venue once again for this venerable race. The race course follows a rolling 4.6 km circuit featuring two climbs per lap plus a sharp S-curve leading into a corner at the top of the finishing straight, making for an exciting finish for both riders and spectators.

Cash prizes total over $4000.00.

On-line pre-registration is available at www.ontariocycling.org at a discounted entry fee. Regular entry fee prices apply if registering on race day.

On-line pre-registration closes at midnight Wednesday June 6.

New for 2007: A new ability-based category system has been introduced according to new OCA guidelines for Ontario Cup events. Beginner/Novice riders can select from several new categories for 2007 including Senior 4 Men (19+), Master 3 Men (35+), and Senior 3 Women (19+). In the Women’s categories, there will be a separate race for just the Master A 30-39 Women, Master B 40+ Women, Junior Women, Under-17 Women and Senior 3 Women, with separate awards for all five of these categories. Finally, please visit the OCA web site and review the information regarding the new ability-based categories for 2007.

Also, the course is improved once again with over a third of the entire circuit newly paved from the main climb all the way along Hwy 8 up to the feed zone.

Directions

From Toronto, take Hwy 401 west and exit at Hwy 8 to Kitchener. Take the Fairway Rd exit and turn right onto King St E for 1 block, then right on Fairway Rd. Go approx. 1.5 km then turn left on Wilson Ave. Go 0.5 km, then turn left on Goodrich Dr. Follow signs to Parking and Registration from Goodrich Dr.

From London, take Hwy 401 east and exit at Regional Rd 8 (King St E) to Kitchener. Follow King St E for 6 km then turn left on Fairway Rd. Follow the directions as above from Fairway Rd.

The race day long-range weather outlook for Kitchener-Waterloo calls for light winds and pleasantly warm with a high of 25 degrees.
