Junior Track Worlds

July 27, 2004 – A young Canadian team of eight athletes are only one day away from taking on the world at the 2004 Junior Track World Championships in Los Angeles from July 28-August 1. The Velodrome, which will host over fifty countries, was only recently completed and is the only indoor Velodrome in the United States. It has a 250-meter circumference with a Siberian pine wood surface, made especially to produce very fast times!

The Canadian team consists of:
Laura Brown of Alberta (women’s sprint)
Naomi Cooper of B.C. (women’s endurance)
Zach Grant of Alberta ( men’s sprint)
Mylène Laliberté of Québec (women’s endurance)
Mark MacDonald of Alberta (men’s sprint and endurance)
Rene Regimbauld of Alberta (men’s sprint)
Jeff Sparling of Alberta (men’s sprint and endurance)
Charly Vives of Québec (men’s endurance).


The team will be coached by former World Sprint Champion Tanya Dubnicoff, who now coaches and resides in Calgary, Alberta.
