Junior Track Worlds Revised Qualifications

May 14, 2004 – The Canadian Cycling Association would like to announce a change to the published selection procedure for the 2004 junior track world championships, which will be held July 28-August 1 in Los Angeles, California.

The worlds pre-qualification event originally scheduled in Dieppe, N.B., on June 12-13 will instead be held in Bromont, Que., on the same dates. Event information can be found on the FQSC website www.fqsc.net. The other pre-qualification events remain the same (see below).

The second change to the selection process is the time standards, which have been loosened slightly to allow the CCA's coaches to identify a bigger pool of potential worlds athletes (see time standards below). The target size of the worlds team remains six athletes (two women and four men), but this may be adjusted based on the competitiveness of the athletes.

The basic selection process remains the same and is outlined below. For further information, please contact National Development Coach Kris Westwood at 613-248-1353 ext. 2607, or at coach@canadian-cycling.com.
