July 11, 2010 (Ireland) – Stuart Wight (Can) Hot Tubes sealed the win today in the sixth and final stage of the Junior Tour of Ireland. Despite many attacks in the stage, Wight and his Hot Tubes team mates contained everything they needed to to complete the victory for the lone Canadian on the team.
Going into the stage Wight was in the lead by 1:45 over Joe Kelly of the Isle of Man. Kelly and everyone else tried hard to break the strong Hot Tubes team today over the 68km final stage – another hilly, windy tour of the beautiful Irish countryside and while several riders did manage to escape they were unable to put enough time between Wight and his loyal team who worked like Trojans to keep the time lost to a minimum.
In the end it was Felix English of the Irish National Team who took the victory but not by enough time to unseat Wight from the overall lead which he had held since the second stage.
On Monday Wight leaves his Hot Tubes team to head to the European base for the Canadian National Team in Belgium where he will take a couple of days to rest before beginning preparations for the World Junior Road Championships in Italy in August.
