July 7, 2009 (Montreal, QC) – The FQSC is pleased to announce that Josée Robitaille has joined the association as Road, Track and Paracycling Co-ordinator. Robitaille, the current Director of the Team Volkswagen Specialized, will take over for Sylvain Richard and begin her new position on August 17.

“After 25 years as the director of a cycling team, I was ready to take on a new challenge and I’m happy to accept this opportunity with the FQSC. Cycling clubs are the corner stone of development in our sport. I believe I’ll be able to make a significant contribute in this sector,” commented Robitaille.

“The Volkswagen Specialized team will continue to evolve without me as the basic structure in place is solid allowing the team to continue its activities over the next few years,” added Robitaille. “This kind of team is fundamental for athletes to excel in the sport.” Robitaille has seen several of her riders reach the professional ranks.

Robitaille will face several challenges in her new position, among them the absence of an indoor cycling track in Canada’s second most populous province, the recruitment of new paracyclists, and the development of recreational cycling.

“The FQSC has built a reputation of excellence over the years with top level athletes, clubs, coaches and events. With her experience and achievements Josée Robitaille will certainly be an asset to our organization,” said FQSC president, André Michaud.
