December 19, 2008 – Cycling is an endurance sport, both at an individual and collective level, which requires courage, perseverance and a fighting spirit. It gathers different sports and can be practised all year. The International Cycling Union is the International Federation of Cycling. Its mission is to manage and develop world cycling (Road, Track, Mountain Biking, BMX, Cyclo-Cross, Trials, Indoor Cycling and Para-cycling) and represent the interests of National Federations from 170 countries. It is based in Aigle, at the World Cycling Centre (WCC).
The Administrative Service of the International Cycling Union combines former cycling champions’ experience and knowledge of the sport with the skills of professional experts.
The UCI is looking for motivated, dynamic and flexible men and women used to coping with pressure, people who relish a challenge and who are ready to work for cycling. Strong service-minded attitude and appropriate business experience are essential as much as excellent language skills (English and French).
The UCI is looking to recruit a Manager for its Training Department.
Job description:
The Training Department Manager is the counsellor to the UCI President on training and education matters. The Training Department Manager’s main responsibilities are:
– represent training and education matters in the UCI Managers meeting
– elaborate and implement training and education programs to be part of the Global Development Strategy
– organise and supervise training and education actions : internships, camps, seminars, meetings for athletes, coaches and staff
– supervise and coordinate the production of coaching resources
– promote these actions to the National Federations
– manage staff, resources and facilities in Aigle and in the world
– detect promising athletes and coaches to be trained
The Manager we are looking for:
– has a broad knowledge and perspective of training and development within cycling globally.
– is future orientated, creative and innovative within the UCI missions
– understands the needs of cycling globally and can develop strategies, structures and processes in flexible and practical ways
– can recruit and organize resources (people, funding, support) and manage multiple activities
– arranges information, communication and work processes in a useful and logical manner.
– sets goals, objectives and measures for staff to understand
– is knowledgeable about athletes, coaches and support staff in the area training, education and development
– makes decisions with the best interest of cycling and athletes in mind
– is skilled in personal relations
– speak French and English fluently and can write in the two languages
– is flexible and available to travel.
