October 13, 2013 – The Venue Management functional area (VEM) is responsible for leading an integrated venue operations planning process for all competition and designated non-competition venues utilized for the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games all preceding Test Events. Venue Management is also responsible for delivering the Event Services (EVS) scope of work.
The Deputy Manager, Venues will support the Manager Venues in leading and facilitating detailed venue and event services operations planning for one or more venues and provide input to venue operations planning across all venues, through the specific stages of the planning cycle. This will include providing assistance with the design of delivery strategies and tools to ensure that client group needs and services are met and that operational and event services plans and procedures are fully developed. For Test Events and the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games in 2015 the Deputy Manager, Venues will support the delivery of venue operations and event services for assigned venues.

Key Job Responsibilities Venue Planning
-Support the Manager, Venues in leading the operational planning for one or more venues through the specific stages of the planning cycle, including detailed venue planning and Games time readiness.
-Support the integration of other functional areas into the planning process to ensure FA requirements are met.
-Assist with translating client service level agreements to venue specific operating plans.
-Liaise with key venue stakeholders.
-Support the development of any necessary supporting documentation for the Venue Operating Plans.
Spectator Experience
-Lead the development of spectator service delivery levels to ensure a consistent and quality spectator experience across assigned venues.
-Support the development and delivery of the Event Services (EVS) venue operational plan for assigned venues. Clarify EVS scope of services, policies and procedures; identify gaps and overlaps.
-Ensure EVS roles (e.g. access monitoring, ticket-taking, ushering, crowd management, spectator information, etc.) are implemented and performed effectively.
Venue Management Operations and Team
-Support the delivery of venue operations for assigned venues for the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games.
-Provide additional support to, and represent the Venue Manager, as required.
-Support the development of Games-time staffing plans for assigned venue(s), optimizing effectiveness of shift strategies and deployment.
-Train Games-time leadership volunteers in the specific duties of their job and support training sessions for volunteers.
-Manage Games-time workforce for optimal performance and retention; provide consistent direction, support and leadership to all VEM/EVS staff assigned to the venue(s).

Educational/Technical Requirements
-Related post-secondary education; ideally within venue management or event operations
-Strong knowledge and understanding of the world of venue and event planning and operations
-Coordination experience within the environment of one or more major international and/or multi-sport Games and/or events
-Demonstrated experience with operational planning processes for multi-sport events or a multi-sport venue -Project management experience, ideally within the sport sector
