During February and March, Canada took a huge step forward as a nation through its hosting of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games. Sport BC is poised to capture the spirit and inspiration of the 2010 Games. The powerful legacy of the 2010 Games presents a remarkable opportunity to build a more sustainable amateur sport system that can be enjoyed by all British Columbians. The next President & CEO will execute this compelling vision.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President & CEO is responsible for the overall leadership and strategic development of Sport BC and providing support to the voting member organizations. The President & CEO executes policy direction from the Board, drives strategic plan development and implementation, and is responsible for the overall operational management of Sport BC. In addition, the President & CEO is an advocate for Sport BC, and spearheads government and stakeholder relations to enhance Sport BC’s vision and mandate and to ensure Sport BC is a significant voice for sport in British Columbia.
The successful candidate will be a visionary leader with a blend of outstanding leadership abilities, business skill, fund development and government relations experience, and sport system knowledge. A contagious passion for sport and what it brings to society, and a commitment to unifying and developing the BC amateur sport sector as a legacy to Vancouver 2010 are necessary for success in the role.
