Job Opportunity – Mike’s Bike Shop Seeks Bicycle Mechanic

April 23, 2013 (Dieppe, NB) – As one of Canada’s most prominent Specialty Bicycle retailers, Mike’s Bike Shop has now opened its brand new, state of the art, 16,000 sq./ft retail facility. With our most recent accolade being receiving the City of Dieppe’s business excellence award for 2013, we are flying high and continuing our fast paced growth.  We have deep roots in our community, and are independently, locally owned.

We are currently looking to expand our service department with a qualified bicycle mechanic. Relying on your previous experience working in the bicycle industry as a mechanic, you will join the rest of our highly trained and professional service staff, in a very fast paced, busy service center.  We require a positive attitude, the desire to learn, and the willingness to work hard with an attention to detail, and you must be customer driven.

Responsibilities
– Repair, maintain, and assemble bikes
– Take notes of all the work done on bikes + update the database.
– Keep the workshop inventory updated.
– Keep the benches and the workshop clean.
– Provide feedback about bicycles and be a part of the mechanics  team
– Be customer service oriented and personable
– Assist with related material (such as bicycle accessories, tools, etc)
– Inventory management as needed.
– All other duties as directed by Management
– The seasonal nature of this job means that there will be weeks when we will work longer hours including nights and weekends in peak season.

Bicycle Mechanic Skills
– Ability to manage his or her own time and the ability to prioritize
– Good team player
– Able to problem solve and work in a fast paced environment.
– True wheels
– Bleeding Hydraulic brakes
– Change derailleurs, Chain check, and replacement if needed.
– Changing brakes, brake levers and shifter levers
– Changing all kinds of cables
– Service and adjust derailleurs, including limit screw adjustment (both derailleurs)
– Service and adjust brakes
– We usually require 1-3 years of shop experience, although exceptions will be entertained

Expect to make $30,000.00 plus, depending on qualifications.
