Job Opportunity: CCA Chief Technical Officer/High Performance Director

May 8, 2008 – The CCA is searching for a technical leader who possesses vision, energy, ingenuity and the desire to succeed on the international sporting stage. The Canadian Cycling Association (CCA) is the recognized authority by the UCI (Union Cycliste International) on all aspects of cycling in Canada, including BMX, Cyclocross, Mountain Bike, Para-Cycling, Road and Track.

Job Description: The Chief Technical Officer/High Performance Director (CTO/HPD) is responsible for the technical direction and leadership of cycling in Canada, including the development, implementation and monitoring of all technical aspects of sport development, in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The CTO/HPD is expected to:

“¢ Lead, implement, monitor and evaluate the sport performance side of the strategic long term plan
“¢ Establish and evaluate performance measures and targets for high-performance programming
“¢ Advise on development programs as part of cycling’s Long Term Athlete Development model, national training and
development centres, coaching education programs, and technical officials
“¢ In collaboration with the CEO, develop funding submissions and ensure the effective financial management of the
association
“¢ Oversee CCA coaching and technical staff
“¢ Represent Canadian Cycling on domestic and international technical issues as required.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in and knowledge of the five Olympic and Paralympic sports under the jurisdiction of CCA (BMX, Mountain Bike, Para-Cycling, Road and Track) at the domestic and international levels. The ability to evaluate, plan and oversee cycling development systems and international strategies is essential. Demonstrated success as an executive manager with excellent management, administrative, and financial skills are other key attributes. Knowledge of the amateur sporting system of Canada is preferred. Strong consultative, facilitation and decision-making skills are required. The ability to communicate in both official languages is a key asset.

The CTO/HPD will work from the association’s national office in Ottawa. Employment start date is negotiable. Salary for this position will commensurate with experience.
