November 05, 2012 – The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is seeking a Director, NSF Services in its Ottawa office to provide added-value services to member National Sport Federations’ (NSFs) leadership teams outside the scope of the sport technical area.

Job Description:
Be a part of building and servicing a national brand. The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to high-performance sports excellence. We are the largest private supporter of high performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.
The objective of this position is to support NSFs, either in becoming or maintaining their status as world class sport organizations. These services, both broad and customized in nature, are designed to optimize NSF organizational capacity and to create synergies and economies of scale amongst NSFs to achieve common objectives. This position is primarily responsible for the day-to-day liaison between the COC and the NSF Executive Directors and CEOs.
Core Responsibilities and Priorities:
– Development and implementation of NSF CEO/President Mentor Program;
– Development and implementation of a strategy for sharing of NSF best practices;
– Development of a Menu of Services and Network of Experts;
– Development of a COC Engagement/Outreach plan with NSFs;
– Staff Liaison with the COC Sport Partner Relations Committee;
– Lead the execution of workshops at COC Session meetings;
– Act as a resource to NSFs Executive Directors/CEOs;
– Assist in the development of a business plan that has NSFs share in back-of-house support (based on a win-win outcome);
– Assist in the development and lead the execution of an NSF at-Games Services plan;
– Other duties as assigned by the Chief Sport Officer.
Qualifications and Critical Skills:
– University Degree in a Sport Management related field
– Minimum 7 years in High Performance Sport Management including at the CEO/ED level
– Desired proficiency in PowerPoint and Word. Working knowledge of Access and Excel
– Bilingualism (EN/FR) a preferred asset
– Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
– Familiarity and proven ability to build/maintain relationships with the national sport community
– Analytical, organizational and management abilities, combined with team building and leadership skills
– Excellent planning, follow through and time management skills

– Problem-solving
– Self-motivated, creative team player
