Job Opportunity – Calgary Sport Council

December 12, 2008 – The Calgary Sport Council is seeking a qualified applicant to fill the full-time position of Planning & Development Coordinator. Interested individuals must apply for the position by December 31, 2008. The Planning & Development Coordinator will be responsible to assist in the day to day operations of the business, assisting with the implementation of the annual business plan with a focus on the delivery of the Council’s facility development and enhancement plan, liaise with facility developers/operators, member groups, as well as provincial and national bodies, and act as a resource for Calgary’s sporting community.

Details:
– reports to Executive Director
– 40 hours per week
– Primarily Monday-Friday with some evening and weekend work as required
– Flex time

Duties and Responsibilities:

– Assist in coordinating the research, development and implementation current facility development and enhancement plans.
– Within the facility development and enhancement strategy, assist in the development of a strong network of support locally and provincially.
– Act as a strategic resource for Calgary’s sporting community, facility operators and developers.
– Coordinate and participate in facility type user committee meetings.
– Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of various special projects and annual events.
– Assist in the development and implementation of new programs and initiatives.
– Contribute to organizational strategic and business planning.
– Assist in increasing the profile of the CSC and sport in Calgary.
– Ensure the delivery of key sport messages to media, corporate, community, political, educational audiences.

Skills and Qualifications:

– Degree or diploma in Sport Administration, Recreation or a related field.
– Minimum 5 years of experience in sport delivery system.
– An excellent understanding of sport in Calgary, Alberta and the Canadian sport system.
– Proven written and verbal communication skills.
– Excellent planning and organizational skills.
– Able to work independently or as part of a team.
– Able to foster an inclusive and collaborative environment.
– Self-motivated and results driven.
– Provide superior member services.
– Maintain Calgary Sport Council’s standard of excellence and be a positive role model for our vision, values and commitment to service.
– General understanding of Board Governance.
– Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
– Passionate about sport and physical activity.

Term Full Time
Salary Yearly remuneration dependent upon skills and experiences. Plus an Employee Benefits Program.
