Position: Marketing and Communications Manager

Job Description: Primary Area of Responsibility Reporting to the Vice-President of Marketing the Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for executing internal/external communications; branding; and corporate visibility/lead generation programs. As a resourceful, hands-on individual that can successfully work closely with product marketing as well as special events and national fundraising programs, the Marketing and Communications Manager will also develop marketing plans and budgets to support corporate marketing objectives, and coordinate and execute marketing and communications initiatives and campaigns.

Responsibilities
1. Responsible for all internal and external communication, public relations and media activities;
2. Manage national promotions, campaigns and marketing opportunities inclusive of the development of an annual awareness campaign and a monthly newsletter;
3. Manage the annual Special Olympics Day on TSN program;
4. Responsible for strategic and content management of corporate web site;
5. Developing and deploying business plans to achieve key objectives for communications and public relations activities;
6. Contribute to the creation of marketing materials in support of product and corporate initiatives;
7. Work closely with internal stakeholders across Canada to develop an internal communications strategies;
8. Research corporate internal and external communications strategies and best practices of other great organizations in Canada;
9. Write and prepare internal presentations, speeches, messages, emails and other materials for key clients and advise clients on communications strategy, messages and tactical implementation;
10. Promote an understanding of the organization and its goals, policies and priorities;
11. Manage sustained communication to corporate partners;
12. Provide assistance in sponsorship maintenance;
13. Assist in the coordination of special events and functions as appropriate;
14. Work with appropriate volunteer committees to develop plans and meet targets;
15. Completion of market research and marketing plans.

Qualifications
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Business; Marketing; Communications; Public Relations; English; Journalism or equivalent discipline;
2. Successful track record of development and implementation of diverse marketing programs that improve corporate visibility and perception;
3. At least five years of related experience;
4. Strong project management skills with an attention to detail;
5. A self-directed and enthusiastic team player attitude;
6. Capable writing skills with strong editorial/proofing capabilities that can drive the production of press releases (in tandem with PR firm) and sales collateral, including print, online, direct/ e-mail programs, data sheets, newsletters, etc.;
7. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines;
8. Demonstrated creativity and a keen eye for visual design;
9. Bilingualism is an asset.

Position: Vice-President, Marketing

Job Description: Primary Area of Responsibility The Vice President of Marketing is responsible for providing executive leadership and management of the organization’s marketing communication; internal/external branding; business development marketing strategies; marketing campaigns; and the development and promotion of new sponsorship and revenue generating opportunities. The Vice President will also represent the organization at appropriate business and marketing events and bring credibility and industry recognition to the organization. This position will support the overall corporate strategy and growth goals.

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Vice President of Marketing will lead a team of 3 marketing professionals and will drive the organization’s efforts to position itself as a visionary leader in its field and achieve revenue targets.

Responsibilities:
1. Develop and guide the overall marketing strategy to grow the revenue base and awareness strength to ultimately grow the organization’s programs and services;
2. Manage all current national sponsors and develop strategies to grow existing sales levels, expand market potential and increase overall profitability;
3. Work closely with Chapter programs to support and grow revenue generation initiatives and provide marketing customer service support;
4. Provide leadership in the management and motivation of the marketing team (consisting of the Director of Fundraising; the Marketing and Communications Manager; and the Marketing Coordinator) to meet targets and provide heightened customer service to all constituents;
5. Develop the tools required to measure the success of the sales efforts;
6. Support the cross-functional team dynamic within the events business and foster collaboration and cooperation;
7. Works with the Marketing Committee of the Board and national sponsors to achieve annual targets;
8. Develop research requirements, managing the information gathering activities, and presenting the results;
9. Proactively integrates research and analysis results into program development, marketing and analytical plans;
10. Develop and track metrics and conduct post-mortem reviews on all marketing activities to determine successes and areas for improvement;
11. Develop and manage the marketing budget;
12. Act as a spokesperson for the organization with press; special events; corporate and Chapter programs and develop, foster and leverage key relationships within the public sector.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following experience, knowledge and abilities:
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Business; Marketing or equivalent discipline;
2. A minimum of 10-15 years of sales and marketing expertise with senior management experience;
3. Ability to plan and manage at both the strategic and operational levels;
4. Successful track record in the development of sales and sponsorship programs that result in enhanced service and incremental revenue;
5. Experience in choosing, deploying and using marketing and sales applications to grow business and meet targets;
6. Experience preparing successful proposals and proven experience raising funds;
7. Capacity to assume more executive responsibilities over time;
8. Bilingualism is an asset.
