Job Description:

Primary Area of Responsibility The Director of Fundraising is responsible for national fundraising programs and works with existing sponsors to develop and enhance programs. The Director of Fundraising will work closely with the Special Olympics Chapters to ensure the involvement in all national programs and develop new national fundraising initiatives. The Director of Fundraising will also liaise with the Canadian Director of the Law Enforcement Torch Run to support its current programs and work to develop a national fundraising program. Reporting directly to the Vice-President of Marketing the Director of Fundraising will be responsible for financial targets assigned to each fundraising program and work to secure incremental revenue opportunities. Responsibilities 1. Manage the national fundraising program inclusive of the following events:

a. AIRMILES Week;
b. AIRMILES Direct Mail Program;
c. SUBWAY Day;
d. STAPLES “Give a Dollar Share a Dream” program;
e. The Forzani Group annual fundraising initiative;
f. Special Olympics Festival;
g. Annual golf tournament.

2. Manage the World Games “Draft An Athlete” program;
3. Liaise with Chapters on all appropriate events and provide support services for their events as required;
4. Work with other areas of the Marketing and Sponsorship Department as appropriate;
5. Represent Special Olympics Canada at appropriate events as required;
6. Assist with all event elements of any National Fundraising Initiatives and sponsorship promotions;
7. Assist with any National and World Games revenue generating opportunities as required;
8. Further develop the partnership with the Canadian Progress Club Charitable Foundation, and any other service clubs or foundations;
9. Liaise with the Special Olympics Canada Foundation, and the Foster Foundation, to ensure all annual requirements are met;
10. Develop on-line marketing and strategic partnership opportunities;
11. Work with appropriate volunteer committees to meet annual targets;
12. Conduct post-mortem reviews on all fundraising activities to determine successes and areas for improvement.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess the following experience, knowledge and abilities: 1. A Bachelor’s degree in Business; Marketing or equivalent discipline;
2. A minimum of 5-10 years in the fundraising or development field;
3. Successful track record of development and implementation of diverse marketing programs that improve the organization’s visibility and perception;
4. Experience preparing successful proposals and proven experience raising funds;
5. A working knowledge of national development trends and fundraising programs;
6. Understanding of fundraising (preferred direct marketing; event based; and community);
7. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills;
8. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
9. Bilingualism is an asset
