Job Description: Communications & Sports Information Officer

This dynamic, 3-year term appointment will be of interest to a creative thinker and team player with an eye for detail and knowledge of sports or recreation programs. Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive communication plan to increase awareness of Queen’s Athletics and Recreation on campus, in Kingston and among other universities provincially, nationally and internationally.

This will be accomplished through media coverage and the promotion of sporting events, activities and achievements. As a result, you will establish media contacts, facilitate interviews and press conferences, and develop, write and edit press releases as well as electronic and print publications. A degree, preferably in Journalism, Sport Information or Sport Management, supports your 5+ years of communication or sport information/management experience, preferably in a national institutional environment.

Your background includes working with local and national media, and training and leading staff. Excellent communication, editing and organization skills are essential, as is proficiency in MS Office as well as graphics, photography, layout and web-based publishing software.
