Job Description: The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is seeking to hire a dynamic and experienced individual for its Montreal office. Reporting to the Director, Athlete and Community Relations, the successful candidate will be responsible for all athlete funding programs, Community Relations as well as COC’s Olympians Canada program. Responsibilities will include overall strategic planning, personnel and program management. This position is a primary interface with COC’s key corporate partners, and as such significant client service experience will be essential.
Core Responsibilities
1. Athlete funding programs – provide leadership in order to develop and implement athlete funding programs that will address the needs and interests of the corporate partners. Tasks include: personnel management; program design, implementation and evaluation as well as interaction with corporate partners.
2. Olympians Canada (OC) – program provide leadership, establish close relationships with the National Board of Directors and the Regional Chapter Boards in order to support and guide program initiatives. The aim is to optimally engage Olympians in the community, in the promotion of the Olympic Movement and Olympic values as well as support of COC initiatives.
3. Community Relations – provide leadership in the research, strategic planning and implementation of community relations initiatives that will contribute to the development and maintenance of excellent relations with key stakeholders, including: athletes, coaches, sport community, corporate sector, etc., in order to promote COC interests in partnership with stakeholders.
Qualifications and critical skills
o University Diploma with a minimum of 5+ years of related work experience in a supervisory capacity;
o Excellent program design, management and evaluation competencies;
o Independent, self-starter. Able to work proactively with minimal supervision;
o Strong interpersonal and leadership skills;
o Very strong oral and written communication skills (fluently bilingual in English/French);
o Significant public speaking experience desirable;
o Vision, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects concurrently;
o Ability to establish and nurture positive work relationships with colleagues and key corporate partners;
o Knowledge of office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, etc.);
o Background as a high performance athlete or Olympian preferable.
