November 21, 2006 – According to the French website, Sport365.fr, former Danish pro cyclist Jesper Skibby has admitted to a long history of doping in his soon-to-be-released autobiography. The book, entitled Skibby, Comprenez-moi bien in French, provides details of Skibby’s consumption of EPO, cortisone, growth hormones, testosterone, and steroids, starting in 1993.
According to extracts published Monday in the Danish tabloid, Ekstra Bladet, Skibby explained that: “The effect (of the doping) was almost instantaneous, I felt stronger than ever and, when I got off my bike, I didn’t feel the slightest bit tired.”
Skibby, who rode 14 years, mainly for the Dutch team TVM, distinguished himself notably by winning one stage race in the Tour de France and the Giro respectively, and three stage victories in the Vuelta. Skibby, now 42, retired from pro cycling in 2000.
