release by Local Racing

April 17, 2019 (Pitt Meadows, B.C.) – Registration is still open for Jeremy’s Roubaix, Hell North of the Fraser, road race coming up this Saturday, April 20. Based in the City of Pitt Meadows, it started out 16 years ago as Harris Roubaix, and is now named Jeremy’s Roubaix after BC cycling legend Jeremy Storie.

Jeremy Storie was a fixture in BC and Canadian road and track cycling. He mentored and coached many of our county’s top cyclists including Maggie Coles-Lyster, Steph Roorda, Jasmine Glaesser, Gillian Carleton and Laura Brown. His work in cycling also included a strong dedication to developing youth cycling and to challenge the system for gender equity. Jeremy died suddenly in February, 2013.

Jeremy’s Roubaix is a staple on the BC road cycling scene. The race is based on the spring classic bike race Paris Roubaix, substituting cobble stone roads for gravel dyke paths. Proceeds from this race will again go to help one of Jeremy’s former athletes, 20-year old, Maggie Coles-Lyster in her pursuit of competing at international track omnium events with the goal of Tokyo 2020.

This year’s race will again include a separate Master Men’s category, special pricing for all Junior and Youth riders, plus as much wind and rain Mother Nature can dish up!

We would like to express our thanks to our event partners: Local Ride Racing, Power2Max, TaG Cycling Race Team, Vision/FSA, Naked Bikes, Born Superior Sports Care, the City of Pitt Meadows and Metro Vancouver Regional Parks.
