June 30, 2007 – German cyclist Jörg Jaksche (Tinkoff), one of the riders involved in the Puerto Affair, is about to reveal everything he knows about it according to AFP. Monday’s edition of Germany popular Der Spiegel, a weekly magazine based in Hamburg, will carry Jaksche’s story said his lawyer, Michael Lehner, yesterday.
Jaksche, who turns 31 this month, has been pro racing since 1997 and won Paris-Nice in 2004. Lehner indicates that the cyclist intends to do more than simply admit his own wrongdoings and wants to shine light on the question of doping. Jaksche also apparently is ready to serve as a witness for both the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the Union des Cyclistes Internationale (UCI).
Documents found at the clinics of Spanish doctor, Eufemiano Fuentes – who is at the centre of the Puerto Affair – make reference to an athlete identified by the code name “Bella Jorg”. Jaksche was consequently one of nine cyclists banned from the 2006 TdF, but until now Jaksche has protested his innocence in Puerto.
