January 14, 2015 (Milton, ON) – Pedal spoke with Tim Hockey and Jacques Landry, two behind-the-scenes players in Canada’s cycling scene, involved with making the new Mattamy National Cycling Center a reality, host venue of the recent 2014 Canadian Track Cycling Championships and the Milton International Challenge.
Hockey is CEO of TD Canada Trust and was instrumental in getting the new world-class track cycling facility off the ground, as his Ontario riding club, Les Domestiques, organized crucial initial funding with club member Peter Gilgan of Mattamy Homes committing $6 million for the project and 34 other donors contributing substantial amounts (read more here). Landry is the Cycling Canada High Performance Director and he talks about the impact the new Canadian training hub and Toronto 2015 PanAm Games venue will have on competitive cycling in the country in the short and long term as a real game-changer.
