October 04, 2017 (Milton, ON) – We caught up with, Ed Veal, the newly crowned Best Hour World Record holder for UCI Masters 40-44 years who accomplished the feat on Sept. 23 at The Day of the Hour presented by Mercedes-Benz Oakville, at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton, Ont.
Veal’s distance of 48.587km eclipsed the current standard of 48.411 km set by Jayson Austin from Sydney, Australia in Feb. 2013. The veteran national team rider of men’s team pursuit and road crit fame missed in April 2105. “It feels great but I can hardly believe it when I hear you say the words ‘new world record’. I missed it back in 2015 during the #EdsHour event and knew I had to come back, so it’s a bit of redemption and great to check that box off,” said a smiling Veal.
