December 27, 2007 (Brossard QC) — On Friday December 28, an indoor cycling competition hosted by the Quebec Cycling Academy (QCA) will take place at the Complexe Sportif Sani Sport at 7777 Marie Victorin Blvd near the corner of Highway 132 and Rome Blvd) in Brossard. The first such race of the season, to be held in the Virtual Velo Room, will offer 25km races ranked for all categories. The competitions are not sanctioned and cyclists do not need a racing license to participate. Participants can even “draft” behind virtual competitors! The results will be posted on line.

Six race start times feature up to eight (8) cyclists at a time! Choose your start time – 8:00 a.m., 10:00, noon, 2:00 p.m, 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. The cost is $18 for licenced cyclists or QCA members — for all others it’s $21. The competition is FREE for members with a Virtual Velo Card.

Reservations can be made by email to velovirtuel@sifaka.ca or call 450-465-7220. Places are limited and will be allotted on a first come, first serve basis. Club registrations are also possible.

The Academy claims to have the largest virtual velo room in Canada. Cyclists can ride on their own bike along different virtual bike routes. There are three types of platforms (Tacx, Realaxiom, and Computrainer) and five different software programs and hundreds of virtual bike routes, including the Tour de France.
