January 14, 2010 (Port Colbourne, ON) – The Shorthills Cycling Club is proud to announce the return of winter mountain bike racing to the Niagara Region as they play host the inaugural Frostbike winter mountain bike race. The all weather event is slated for February 7, 2010 in Port Colborne, Ontario.
The off-road cycling event is a part of Port Colborne’s 10th annual Winter Sportsfest, a community celebration used to raise money for local charities such as Port Cares, the Easter Seals and the Special Olympics.
The Frostbike is an individual time trial event where racers are judged on their best one of two laps. The expertly marked and groomed course promises to be both fun and challenging to riders of all skill levels.
Online registration is now open at www.thefrostbike.com. The entry fee is $30 and the first fifty registrants receive a souvenir toque with their entries. There is no day-of registration.
The first rider will leave the start gate at 11am. Upon the completion of the race it’s over to the Funky Monkey Bar & Grill where riders and volunteers will be treated to a chili feast by our gracious sponsor. Awards will be given out to the top three male and female riders in a variety of age groups. Of course we’ll have tons of draw prizes from our amazing sponsors as well.
We hope you join us for this fun filled outdoor experience. For further information please visit www.thefrostbike.com.
