September 24-30, 2002 – Wedding Bells in Ontario. Mark Schmidt and Lora Woolner of the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew have a huge day ahead. On Saturday, September 28, the couple is getting married at an undisclosed location in Ontario. IMBA's staff, board and extended family around the world are thrilled for Mark and Lora. They are the first IMBA Trail Care Crew to be married while on the tour of duty. You can email them a congratulatory note at tcc2@imba.com.

Needless to say, Mark and Lora will be taking this week off from their crew duties.

Hot Spots Rolls in Big Apple
Meanwhile, Scott Linnenburger and Aaryn Kay of the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew are working through the heart of the 2002 New York City Hot Spots campaign. The first five days were very successful and included a Trailbuilding School and group ride in Long Island, a trailwork day in Morris County, New Jersey, and a presentation at the Arc de Triomphe bike shop in downtown Queens. The latter was a significant event, as officials from the New York City Parks and Rec Department attended to discuss mountain bike access in their parks. There are currently no trails open to mountain bicyclists in New York City Parks. Here's what's on tap for Scott and Aaryn for the rest of the Hot Spots campaign:

Event: New York City Mountain Bicycling Leadership Meeting

Details: The Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew and IMBA executive director Tim Blumenthal will host a strategic planning meeting focused on improving mountain bike trail access in the New York City metro area.

Details: The Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew builds and rides trails around the world and lives in a car 12 months a year. Come for an entertaining one-hour presentation. IMBA's executive director and Mountain Bike Hall of Fame member Tim Blumenthal will also be at the bike shop to discuss ways to improve mountain biking opportunities in New York City.

Please wear long pants, heavy footwear, work gloves and be prepared for a variety of weather. Water and snacks will be provided, but it's a good idea to bring your own too.
