February 01, 2012 (Saskatoon, SK) – Saskatoon Cycles and We Are Many are proud to announce the 3rd Annual Ice Cycle will take place on Sunday, February 5th, between 11:30am and 3pm at the Saskatoon Farmer’s Market (19th St. & Ave B S.).
Ice Cycle lived up to its billing as the coldest bicycle parade on the planet, with -40 C temperatures, in its first two years. almost 200 cyclists took part in both 2010 and 2011 to celebrate cycling and wintertime in Saskatoon. Ice Cycle 2012 is set to be even bigger and better – whatever the thermometer reads on February 5th.Ice Cycle 2012 kicks off at 1130am with free bike repairs and a winter cycling seminar at noon. The bike parade begins at 100pm sharp and will wind its way through downtown and back to the Farmer’s Market by 130pm. Live entertainment, door prize giveaways, and more, starts at 130pm, indoors, at the Farmer’s Market. Ample bike parking will be available and everyone, from 2 to 102 years of age, is welcome and encouraged to join in the festivities.
Ice Cycle 2012 participants are asked to register ahead of time via the website. Those who do will receive special offers and discounts from a number of local bike shops.
“It may be cold, but the growing success of Ice Cycle proves that winter cycling is not only possible, it can be fun” says Sean Shaw, a member of the Ice Cycle 2012 organizing committee. Shaw also offers advice for Ice Cycle participants, “make sure your bike is in good shape, dress warm, and bring a friend!”
