December 22, 2012 (Ste-Perpetue, QC) – Pierrick Houle, the 19 year-old brother of well-known National team and former SpiderTech rider, Hugo Houle, now with Ag2r-La Mondiale, died of his injuries overnight following a hit-and-run incident yesterday reports Veloptimum and Radio Canada. The incident happened near the village of Ste-Perpetue north-east of Quebec City.

Despite the driver fleeing the scene, police were nonetheless able to determine that a mini-van was involved and arrested a 41-year-old man today. He faces charges of driving under the influence leading to death and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.

Pedal joins the cycling community in extending its sympathy and condolences to the Houle family and friends.
