July 31, 2002, (Manchester, England) – Clara Hughes has won another medal,
taking third in the points race behind Katherine Bates (Australia). Hughes
can add this to her already impressive collection of medals from summer and
winter olympics, in addition to her gold medal in the Time trial earlier
this week. Hughes has returned to track racing after a lenghty road-based
career with Team Saturn. Erin Carter (Canada) finished 9th. Nicole Cooke
(Wales) again failed to live up to expectations, as the quadruple Junior
World Champion could only muster 6th.
