October 8, 20004 – Well, it back home to Canada after a long month on the road. For a while, it almost seemed like a reality show where you get to meet a lot of great people a make certain connection with some. After a few days back home, I’m starting to wonder which one is really reality though; I now have to wash my clothes, cook my own meals (not that I don’t prefer this option),dress as I wish to do so, etc.

Athens was without a doubt an unforgettable experience for myself and for the complete Canadian squad. The last few days were highlighted by good results on the road (Côté fourth and Marsolais sixth in the RR, Quevillon third and Breton fifth in the TT) which greatly helped lifting many smiles. As some of our riders are currently enjoying a much needed vacation on some Greek beaches, it is now time to sit down to do a complete analyse. One things for sure, the level certainly increased incredibly over the past few years. For one example, the men tandem’s road race was incredibly hard. Experienced road race Steve Rover qualified it as one of his top three efforts ever. This reflects the hard work and dedication these athletes put into this program. Regardless of their disability, they are true athletes and an example to our society.

Athens, the city, also offered its special treatment to these Paralympic Games. After the competitions were over, it was time to let it all go and take a few hours to visit a bit. History was certainly part of these visits.
