Jones tweeted that he saw Hesjedal down on the pavement on the side of the road when he drove by in the race caravan: “Drove past the crash and Hesjedal was on his back under a guard railing, crashed with some team mates. Hopefully he’s not too bad #tdsuisse.”
Jones also heard over the race radio that Hesjedal is definitely out of the race: “But Hesjedal is definitely out of the race, confirmed over race radio before.”
He also reported Hesjedal’s hospital visit via Twitter: “”They just reported they have taken Hesjedal to hospital, didn’t mention the injuries. #tdsuisse.”
We’ll have more on his condition as soon as it becomes available. Pedal joins the cycling community in wishing Ryder a speedy recovery.
