April 24, 2011 (Stouffville, ON) – A cool and cloudy morning gave way to ideal 10 degree racing conditions for the 2011 Hell of the North. A great turnout featured many top racers in attendance. Cross bikes were the natural choice with some riders opting for road bikes, and a few hearty souls riding road shoes/cleats!
The group stayed well together for the first 15km until a 15 degree hill split things up. The first offroad section was quite muddy and challenging, with large water holes to navigate. Section 2 off-road was a 14km ski-doo trail known as The Trench and was dry and fast despite the recent weather.
The 90km seemed to go by quite quickly and back at the start/finish, participants were treated to lunch including home baked cookies. Organization was excellent – top finishers were:
