July 7, 2004 – Oakland, CA – The Health Net Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis added to its lead in the NRC standings with Jason McCartney’s win of the Olympic Selection Road Race, and John Lieswyn’s second and seventh place finishes in the National Time Trial Championship and the Olympic Selection race, respectively. Other riders made solid contributions to the points total as well, including Chris Wherry and Jason Lokkesmoe.

Health Net presented by Maxxis has accumulated 3,391 points, well ahead of Jelly Belly – Aramark, which has 2,608. Webcor fell to third place in the standings with 2,085 points.

Four of top Eight Strong results by Lieswyn and McCartney helped them make large jumps in the individual standings, up to third (832) and fifth (744) respectively. Teammate Gord Fraser sits in fourth place (755), while Scott Moninger comes in at eighth (632). Chris Horner (Webcor) continues to lead the individual standings (1,300), with Adam Bergman moving up into second (937).

Brice Jones of Health Net Presented by Maxxis remained in the top 20, coming in at 18th (428), while Wherry jumped up to 28th (305) and Lokkesmoe to 33rd (272), sandwiched between Bobby Julich (CSC) and Max van Heeswijk (USPS – Berry Floor)

Health Net presented by Maxxis will look to build on its NRC lead in July at several races, including the Cascade Classic, which begins Wednesday (July 7-11) and the Tour de ‘Toona (July 26 – August 1).
