August 18, 2002 This weekend marked the 9th anniversary for 24 Hours of
Adrenalin, with Hardwood Hills being the ‘grand daddy’ of events. Staying
true to form, approximately 10,000 riders/spectators/sponsors and vendors
helped to create an ultimately stellar weekend. While 132,768 km were
covered over Saturday and Sunday, hundreds of gallons of Gatorade and water
were also consumed under sunny skies and hot weather all weekend long.

First place winner of the male solo category was Mark Cousineau of Team
Diabetes, Toronto, finishing 15 laps (of a 22-km course) in 24:05:05. To
date, for 2002, Team Diabetes has raised $60,000 through 24 Hours of
Adrenalin events. “If ever you want to do this race”, says Cousineau, do
it for Team Diabetes, you’ll feel great about riding for a cause, and it’s
such a good party!”

First place winner of the female solo category was Heather Stanley, of
Orillia, ontario, finishing with 13 laps in 24:02:55. Heather (35 years)
also placed 3rd in the overall field. on stage, Heather remarked “I
completely dragged on my 2nd to last lap. I just wanted to quit. But my
last lap was perhaps my fastest, probably because I knew I’d be finished by
the end of it. And, coming through the start/finish tower, the spectators
were cheering so loud that I actually started to cry.”
