June 28, 2006 – Yesterday the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected an appeal by the Russian Olympic Committee to remove American Tyler Hamilton of his time trial gold medal from the 2004 Athens Olympics. The Russian committee was petitioning to remove Hamilton’s medal, thereby giving it to his former US Postal teammate, Vyacheslav Ekimov, who won TT silver in Athens. Hamilton is nearing the end of his two-year ban on blood doping from the Tour of Spain in 2004.
