October 10, 2003 – Tomorrow, Canada's Michael Barry finds himself lining up with the three other Canadian elite riders: Mark Walters, Dom Perras, and Eric Wohlberg. Barry has just completed the Tour of Spain and is looking forward to racing in front of a home crowd. “I have to say it is a really great feeling racing at home, in front of friends and family. The course is great and Sunday should be a spectacular race.”

Racing the Tour of Spain was great preparation, as well as an experience. “I'm really happy to have finished the race, especially after crashing out last year. It sort of erases all those memories of last year. It was good to have finished my first Grand Tour, and it was awesome to have been there to help Roberto (Heras) win.”

This weekend should be a tough race, and Barry feels good about Canada's chances to put on a show. I think all of us have been preparing physcially and mentally for this weekend, and we are more than ready. It's going to be a tough day, a real race of attrition at the end, but we're ready for it.”

Barry said he still finds it surreal to be in Hamilton for the Road World Championships, “It is a really strange but cool feeling to be home, in my own province and country, and seeing all of the guys I normally race with in Europe, their teams and managers, here. I find myself doing a double take every now and then. But it's great, it really is.”
