October 9, 2003 – David Millar (GBR) has finally taken the win he wanted: the World TT Championships. After a roller-coaster year that included a chainstay mishap that cost him the yellow jersey and a prologue win in the Tour de France, Millar rode a fantastic race to beat Aussie Michael Rogers and German Uwe Peschel. Dario Frigo (Italy) was the early leader until the final riders of the last wave came to a finish. Millar said after the race that “the Rainbow jersey is huge for me. I've wanted it for a long time, and it's a lot of work so I'm very happy.” Millar said that he wasn't feeling so strong lately, so today was a great day. “I felt terrible at the Vuelta, and pretty terrible in training lately. Today I felt good riding in the morning so I knew I had good legs.”
