October 8, 2003 – The junior women are already into lap two of their six-lap race. The field is together despite two crashes that occurred in the first lap. Emilie Roy reportedly went down mid-way.

The junior women finished their first 12.4km lap in twenty-one minutes and fifteen seconds. If this pace continues, the women will finish their 74.4km race in two hours. The pack is still together for the most part, with a few riders trailing in.

This just in – Emilie Roy has abandoned from the race and is noticeably distraught.
