October 11, 2003 – The junior men's race is about to get underway with four Canadian men on the start line. The 124km race will see the junior men ride ten laps of the 12.4km loop.

Currently, the start/finish line is smothered in fog and the visibility is only about 100-metres. This should make for an interesting race, especially if a break gets away.

Often visibility plays a factor in the motivation of riders to chase down their competition. If a break gets ahead in the fog it can to create the illusion that they break is further ahead than they really are. This tends to discourage the main pack, creating an interesting dynamic between the racers.

After racing in the junior men's individual time trial earlier this week both Christian Meier and Kevin Lacombe return to compete in the men's road race today. They finished 55th and 50th, respectively, in the ITT. Joining them will be National Road Race Champion Raphael Tremblay, 17, from Lac St. Jean and local rider, Burlington's Brandon Crichton, 18.
