October 11, 2003 – The Women's field is still together after a flurry of attacks from many of the big teams. Manon Jutras (Canada) has been particularly active setting a high tempo up the climb, most likely trying to make the race as hard as possible to benefit her teammates Sue Palmer-Komar or Lyne Bessette. Lyne Bessette has just attacked in a group of five other riders and has a slight gap on the field.
