October 9, 2003 – Another exciting day has come and gone as day two ended yesterday at the 2003 Hamilton Road World Championships. After a few harsh and chilly days in Ontario last week the event has brought sunshine and warm temperatures – to everyone's delight.

Team Canada's Christian Meier was able to chat with Pedal Magazine briefly after his time trial effort yesterday.

Pedal: You've just finished your race, how are you feeling right now?

Meier: It feels good that it's over and it was an okay race today, not like it should have been. I couldn't get into a perfect rhythm on the climb, but other than that it felt okay. The crowds were incredible. Oh wow, I mean, the whole way around the course there was yelling and cheering, it was really cool.

Pedal: When you mentioned your rhythm, was it more mental or physical?

Meier: Just physical – leg-wise. I just couldn't get the legs turning the right rhythm on the climb, the flats felt good. Usually the climbs are where I'm better, but today, I don't know. It didn't feel right, pushing a heavy gear bogged me down a bit.

Pedal: Did you find any difference between your race at Nationals and today?

Meier: My time was actually better than at Nationals – even though I didn't feel as good. I think the crowd might have had a bit to do with that – the crowd at the start gate, with the five second countdown, I couldn't hear myself think!

Meier finished 55th in yesterday's Junior Men's ITT and teammate Kevin Lacombe was 50th. Meier and Lacombe will be racing alongside two other teammates during Saturday's 124km Junior Men's road race. Canada's Brandon Crichton and National Road Champion, Raphael Tremblay will join them.
