January 13, 2013 (Seattle, WA) – Hagens Berman Cycling is pleased to announce its squad for the 2013 season. Backed by longtime title sponsor, Hagens Berman LLP, the squad is hosting its first get together of the year in Seattle, WA this weekend. On tap are a day of education about sponsors and a day filled with team building activities.
The 2013 U.S. registered Domestic Elite Team roster includes returning riders Cody Campbell, Ian Crane, Steve Fisher, David Fleischhauer, Danny Heeley, Jon Hornbeck and Chris Wingfield. New to the 2013 team are top 10 U23 nationals rider Chris Stastny, Tour de l’Abitabi stage winner Colby Wait-Molyneux and Canadian national team member Stuart Wight.
Hagens Berman Cycling is also excited to announce that Burke Swindlehurst had joined the program as Sport Director. “When it comes to experienced riders in the US peloton, it doesn’t get any better than Burke. He’s not only a great guy but has the patience needed to successfully work with development riders” says General Manager Alan Schmitz.
“I’m really excited to work with a program that has a such a rich history of helping riders transition from the elite ranks to the professional as Hagens Berman. Particularly, I’m looking forward to taking young riders who have the world at their feet in terms of where they can go in the sport and enabling them to be ready for that step up to the professional ranks. That time in my own life is still very fresh in my mind and I remember how excited and eager I was to prove myself. I’m hoping that I can pass along some of my experience to them and greatly lessen their learning curve because I recall just how steep a curve it can be. Some things have to be learned the hard way but it’s my aim to knock-down some of the lesser barriers so they can focus squarely on the big ones” Swindlehurst adds.
Team favorite Doug Sumi returns as mechanic.
The team will be riding Jamis Xenith SL and Xenith T2 bicycles and rolling on Reynolds wheels. They will be outfitted by Castelli, fueled by Hammer Nutrition and protected by Bell Gage helmets. Supporting sponsors include Gravitec Systems, Shimano, PRO, Vittoria, Smith Optics, K3Holders, Feedback Sports, DeFeet, Black Diamond Equipment, Thule and the full line of ProGold products.
