Green Light for the Team Coast

After almost two weeks of discussions, the UCI International Cycling Federation has called off the suspension imposed on Team Coast on March 6th without further conditions. The team captained by Jan Ullrich is authorized to take part in scheduled competitions and will be engaged, already by next weekend, in the classic, Milan-San Remo.

By taking this decision, discussions, sometimes harsh between UCI and Team Coast, are finally over. Team Coast's lawyers, Jan Pohle and Dr. Andreas Imping from Osborne Clarke in Cologne, managed to persuade UCI's legal division about the regularity of the salary deductions resulting from the payment of Team Coast's foreign riders. Such deductions should be paid to German Inland Revenue. The conduct of Team Coast resulted in the UCI assuming that the German team didn't pay its riders and assistants according to contract.

Team Coast now needs to establish a settlement for damages caused by the suspension and regain the interest of its fans with strong race results. Management in Essen will examine the claim for damages against the International Cycling Federation.
